Workshops and Trainings
I offer several trainings and workshops, including Tools for Healing Sexual Trauma (for clinicians, survivors and allies), Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Group Therapy for Sexual Trauma Survivors. Heard good things about me in the community and want to learn something else I do? Contact me and I'd be happy to teach.
The Power of Sensation: Somatic Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an affordable weekend workshop appropriate for therapists, students, yoga instructors, massage therapists: those in the helping profession. It will be held in Asheville, North Carolina, from the morning of Saturday August 17th through the afternoon of Sunday August 18th. Eleven and a half Continuing Education contact hours are offered through the National Board for Certified Counselors (SP-3140), whose contact hours are often approved by other certification boards. Heidi Germano is a YACEP with Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org).
This workshop serves as an introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), focusing on using somatic techniques. Upon completing this weekend, participants will be able to implement basic ACT principles, engage clients with present-moment somatic exercises, and facilitate ACT interventions. We strongly believe that in order to practice ACT, we must embody it ourselves. This training will also focus on participants working a current personal issue (or client issue) using ACT principles.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is an evidence-based Third Wave Behavioral theory, using unique interventions to promote mindfulness, psychological flexibility, and quality of life for a wide range of client presenting issues and diagnoses, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, and OCD.
